Kuranda Standard Dog Bed
Kuranda dog beds are designed to prevent dogs from getting a direct bite on the bed fabric. All frame edges are joined tightly, and fabric edges are hidden in between the bed frame, this restrains dogs from chewing at visible edges. Both fabrics are non-breathable making them free of claw and teeth-catching holes. The off-the-floor design provides circulation underneath the bed during summer and lifts dogs off the cold hard floors during winter.

Unsure of the size your dog needs?
How to measure:
- Ensure your dog is well relaxed and all limbs are spread out.
- Measure your dog from nose to tail base for length.
- Measure your dog from top of back to bottom of paws for width.
- Add 10cm to your dog’s measurements – this gives your dog space to comfortably stretch within the bed frame.
- Compare the measurements to the bed INTERNAL dimensions.
Tip:Â When in doubt, order the next size up. Your dog will thank you.
Fabrics
Kuranda fabrics are completely sealed and non-breathable, making them waterproof and free of teeth or claw-catching holes. Breathable fabrics are not chew proof as they have holes that catch on teeth and claws.
Heavy Duty 40oz Vinyl
- Our strongest fabric – for destructive dogs and businesses.
- The 40oz vinyl fabric is made of vinyl-coated polyester with a smooth surface and has superior abrasion resistance and tear strength.
- A non-breathable finish, free of teeth and claw-catching holes.
- The same material used for rigid truck and trailer traps, and SUV covers.
- Does not sweat in heat, retain body heat, or warm in heated environments.
- The smooth coating is easy to brush, hose, or wipe down and does not harbour dirt and allergens from dogs’ fur or paws – best for dogs with inhalant allergies.
- Holds up to 114kg.
- Available for all Kuranda bed sizes.
- Fabric edges are wrapped tightly around a rod, then the seams are welded and heat-treated in place.
- The Kuranda 40oz vinyl fabric has been tested and compared against lower 20oz fabrics on the market and produces a higher performance. Fabrics under 40oz showed low tear strength and over-flex creating weakness and sag over time.
- Our Vinyl fabrics are 1356gsm (grams per square metre). The higher a fabric’s GSM, the thicker and more hard-wearing it is, e.g. Denim has a higher GSM than silk. Other vinyl dog bed fabrics only go as high as 900gsm.
- NOTE: Placing soft bedding, blankets, or bed pads on top of the vinyl may cause condensation between the vinyl and the soft bed topper. This is particularly shown in states that show dramatic temperature drops and depend on the outdoor temperature compared to indoors (mainly experienced in Victoria). If this applies to you, we highly recommend you use the Ballistic Nylon fabric.
Ballistic Nylon
- Ballistic Nylon is a tough high-denier, tightly bound fabric with great tension and abrasion resistance.
- A non-breathable finish, free of teeth and claw-catching holes.
- This canvas-like material is used for military body armour. It is also commonly used in work wear, luggage bags, hiking gear, and duffel bags.
- Best for dogs with sensitive skin, particularly dogs with contact dermatitis.
- Does not sweat in heat, retain body heat, or warm in heated environments.
- Senior dogs may prefer this fabric as it is softer and provides better traction than vinyl.
- Holds up to 45kg.
- Available in sizes up to XL.
- NOTE: Noise from a dog’s claws can be noisy against the ballistic nylon. Adding a Kuranda dog bed cover will reduce the sound.

Assembly Instructions

Bed Care
- For a basic clean, you can wipe the bed down with a damp cloth.
- For a proper clean, use mild warm soapy water and hose down with your average garden hose or pressure hose.
- To dry you can wipe them down or leave them upright to dry.
- The fabrics are non-absorbent and will dry as soon as you wipe them down.
- Aluminium beds must be rinsed after a disinfectant is applied. If not rinsed the water in the disinfectant solution evaporates leaving a high concentration of chemicals on the aluminium which will cause corrosion.
- PLEASE NOTE:
- Harsh chemicals and bleach solutions are not recommended on all Kuranda products.
- Using bleach, bore water, water with high salt or chlorine levels and locations with high salt levels in the air will cause the aluminium beds to break down/corrode.
- Using bleach and chloride solutions will cause discolouration of fabrics.
Warranty
- We guarantee the structural integrity of each of our beds for a period of one year from the original date of purchase of the bed.
- If a dog is able to damage any part of the frame or fabric beyond usability by chewing, we will send you replacement parts free of charge.
- Cosmetic damage and any damage caused by persistent scratching/digging is not covered under the 1 year Chew Proof Warranty.
- Warranty claims are limited to one free replacement per part per bed.
- A photo will be required to submit a warranty claim. All photos and claims need to be sent to info@therian.com.au – there is no need to send the damaged product back to us; the photo(s) will be sufficient.
