Therian was engaged by Pimpama City Veterinary Surgery to design, project manage and fit out their new veterinary clinic located in Pimpama City Shopping Centre, Queensland. Working closely with the clinic owners, our Architecture and Equipment teams delivered a clean, modern, and highly functional 200m² practice that supports both staff efficiency and exceptional animal care.

The architectural design of Pimpama City Veterinary Surgery was driven by a deep understanding of veterinary operations and client interactions. Situated within a single-storey tenancy at the shopping centre, the space was intelligently configured to support efficient clinical operations while enhancing animal wellbeing.
From reception through to treatment and recovery, every area was purposefully planned:

• Separate waiting zones ensure cats and dogs are welcomed in dedicated spaces to minimise stress and cross-species triggers.
• A private grieving room with an external exit creates dignity and comfort for sensitive moments.
• Two consultation rooms support calm, efficient consults.
• An open treatment and recovery area allows continuous patient monitoring.

The clinic also includes separate wards for dogs and cats, purpose-built staff amenities, an X-ray room, and a fully equipped surgery. A dedicated outdoor area provides space for exercise and puppy classes, reinforcing Pimpama City Vet as not just a clinical space but a community hub.

Therian’s architectural approach goes beyond floorplans. By considering movement patterns, sight lines and acoustic separation, we ensure that staff can operate efficiently while animals remain calm and comfortable. Elements such as lighting, ventilation and access points were all designed with behavioural and operational needs in mind — a reflection of our research-driven and evidence-based design philosophy.

Complementing the architectural design, Therian’s Equipment team supplied and installed a complete suite of specialist veterinary equipment tailored to the clinic’s workflow. Highlights include:

• Fiberglass cages for secure, hygienic patient housing
• Surgery tables and exam lighting engineered for precision care
• Cutaway wet prep tables and pass-through medical windows to streamline operations
• Walk-in dog kennels for ease of access and monitoring
• A surgeon’s scrub sink to support procedural hygiene

These solutions were integrated seamlessly into the clinic layout, ensuring that staff can deliver high-quality care efficiently while minimising stress for animal patients. By providing evidence-based recommendations and operational insights, we helped ensure the clinic supports both animal welfare and staff efficiency from day one.

Therian worked closely with Dr Andrew Paxton-Hall BVSc during the design and delivery of Pimpama City Veterinary Surgery. Engaging with the clinic’s leadership team early in the planning process ensured the facility was aligned with operational requirements and future growth objectives.
