Unlike beds which wrap the fabric around the outside of a frame making it totally exposed for a dog to chew, Kuranda beds have a patented design which secures the fabric inside a special channel in the frame totally inaccessible to dogs.
There are no corner gaps in the fabric or exposed edges that a dog could grab and chew. Kuranda dog beds are backed with an all-inclusive 1 year replacement warranty (*except vinyl weave fabric which is susceptible to damage from digging).
Kuranda Beds are ideal for giant dogs breeds; in fact, they are among our best customers! The orthopaedic support from being up off the ground is especially beneficial for those larger dogs who may be prone to joint issues. Being lifted up off the hard ground and having their weight evenly distributed relieves pressure points on hips, shoulders, elbows etc. The All-Alluminium Kuranda Dog Bed is suitable for giant heavy breeds, this frame holds up to 114kg
The Standard Kuranda Dog Bed frame is made from poly resin PVC, both affordable and durable. The standard patented bed frame is constructed from co-extruded, furniture-grade materials. Using two different types of plastic that are fused together, the inside material provides great structural strength while the harder outer shell provides a beautiful, furniture grade finish. This outer layer has a glossy fiberglass like finish that is extremely resistant to damage by chemicals, non-corrosive, it is UV resistant and protected in a wide range of environments (can be used indoors and outdoors). The X-Large to XX-Large frames include a steel rod inside the frame to hold up to heavier dogs. This frame is not recommended for heavy chewing dogs.
The All-Aluminum Kuranda Dog Bed is designed to hold up to 114kg, the Cambridge Kuranda Dog Bed is designed to hold up to 80kg and the Standard Kuranda Dog Bed is designed to hold up to 45kg,

Elevated beds are a great relief for dogs’ joints. The cot-style design evenly distributes their weight so that there are no pressure points such as hips, shoulders or elbows that would get sore like they would have when lying on the ground. Pillow beds harbor allergens. Kuranda beds have no stuffing to collect dirt, bugs and dander. Dogs that have sensitive skin or allergies often benefit greatly from this clean, foam-free design. Pillow Beds
Stuffed Beds are hard to clean, offer little support for your dog and are very easy to chew.
Kuranda beds are certainly orthopaedic and protect joints from painful pressure points. The elevated design lifts dogs off the hard floor and evenly distributes their weight. Soft pillow beds do not provide any support to dogs joints and will create joint issues overtime.
For dogs with Atopic Allergies
Dogs with atopic allergies suffer from an allergic response to something inhaled (think ragweed, pollen, mold, and/or dust mites). For these dogs we recommend the 40oz vinyl. This is because this fabric will not harbor allergens like pollen that may have come from the dog’s fur coat or paws. This fabric smooth surface is easily cleaned, irritants can be wiped off with a damp cloth or hosed down then wiped dry, ready for immediate use after cleaning.
For dogs with Contact Dermatitis
Dogs with skin sensitivity usually prefer our ballistic nylon which does not have a vinyl coating on it. We have found that dogs with sensitive skin can be irritated by the 40oz vinyl coating. The ballistic nylon is similar to a canvas or a brushed cotton so if your dog with sensitive skin is not offended by similar fabric types, he will likely fare well with this option.
Smooth Nylon (Ballistic Nylon): Designed for exceptional durability and abrasion resistance. Ballistic Nylon is a canvas type material used on luggage bags, hiking gear, duffel bags and high wear backpacks. Ballistic Nylon is a high denier fabric with great tension and tear strength. It has a smooth non-breathable waterproof surface which prevents fur catching inside the fabric. The Ballistic Nylon is more suitable for senior dogs who require traction and dogs with sensitive skin. Clean by simply hosing or wiping down and leave upright to dry. Ballistic Nylon holds up to 45kg. This fabric is not an option with the XX-Large size beds.
Heavy Duty Vinyl (40 oz. Vinyl): Designed for high impact and continuous heavy-duty use, the solid 40oz vinyl is our most durable fabric, great for businesses and destructive dogs. The rigid Vinyl coated polyester is the same material used for truck, gym and construction tarps and for outdoor furniture covers. Vinyl has exceptionally superior abrasion resistance and tear strength and will not shrink or sag. It has a smooth non-breathable waterproof surface which prevents fur catching inside the fabric. Vinyl does not harbor allergens and is best for dogs who suffer allergies. Clean by simply hosing or wiping down and leave upright to dry. Vinyl holds up to 114kg.

The ballistic nylon is great for older dogs because it provides the most traction and security when getting on and off the bed. It is the material most similar to pillow beds, if pillow bed’s are what your dog is use to this will be an easy transition. Also if you think your older dog would prefer a shorter bed height, you can purchase the crate legs which will sit the bed 13.5cm off the floor.
The Kuranda beds can be cleaned with warm, soapy water and a mild disinfectant. Kuranda beds can be hosed down with your average garden hose or pressure hose. To dry you can wipe them down or leave them upright to dry. The 40oz vinyl and ballistic nylon fabrics are non-absorbent, this means they will dry as soon as you wipe them down. Harsh chemicals and bleach solutions are not recommended on all Kuranda products. Do note that bleach and chloride solutions will cause discoloration of fabrics and corrosion of the Kuranda frames and corners.
Yes! The sherpa fleece, pillow pad and canvas pad can all be warm machine washed. The sherpa fleece can also be tumble dried.

We guarantee the structural integrity of each of our bed frames as well as the ballistic nylon and 40oz vinyl fabrics for a period of one year from the original date of purchase of the bed.
Sherpa fleece’s, pillow pads, canvas pads, bolsters and slip covers are not covered under any chew proof guarantee.
If your dog is able to damage any part of frame or fabric by chewing beyond usability, we will send out replacement parts for free.
Cosmetic damage and any damage caused by persistent scratching/digging is not covered under the 1 year chewproof warranty.
Warranty claims are limited to one free replacement per part per bed.
Replacement fabrics and parts that are purchased separately do not carry a chew proof warranty.
A photo will be required to submit the claim. All photos and claims need to be sent to info@therian.com.au – there is no need to send damaged product back to us; the photo(s) will be sufficient.
Please allow us five to seven business days to assess the damage and get back to you.
To be eligible for an exchange, your order must be returned unused, unassembled and in the same condition that you received it. Frames, hardware & corners must be unopened and in the original packaging that the order was delivered in. Please use the bed fabric to confirm the bed size against your animal, do not open or assemble your bed frame, hardware and corners. Exchange requests must be received within 7 days of delivery.
Therian has the right to deny return of the solid 40oz vinyl fabric if the fabric has been damaged due to incorrect storage by the customer. Damage caused by incorrect storage includes being left in a position where it has not be laid flat, or the fabric being left inside its box longer then 7 days. We advise the customer to inspect order upon delivery.
Your order must be repacked exactly as delivered (fabrics MUST NOT be folded, bent or forced tightly into the box), incorrect packaging of the fabric will cause damage upon transit resulting in additional payment. Your exchange item will not be dispatched until payment is made for the damage to the returned items.
To process your exchange, we require proof of purchase (invoice or order confirmation) emailed to info@therian.com.au along with your reason and request for exchange.
There are certain situations where only partial refunds/additional payments are granted at sole discretion of Therian:
(a) Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error.
(b) If a bed has been assembled or assemble wear is visible upon return to the Therian office.
(c) Any item that is returned more than 7 days after delivery.
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your return. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your exchange. If you are exchanging for a lesser valued item, the difference will be refunded back to the original payment method you purchased the Kuranda products from (Stripe, Direct Deposit, Afterpay or PayPal). If you are exchanging for a higher valued item, the difference must be paid before dispatch of your exchanged item. Refunds will be made within 30 days from the product being returned to the Therian office.
Therian can arrange shipping however you will be responsible for paying the shipping costs. Payment must be processed prior to collection of the item you wish to return and prior to dispatch of your exchanged item. If using your own shipping provider you should consider using a traceable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We do not guarantee that we will receive your returned item, or you will receive your exchanged item.
All shipping costs are non-refundable.
