Located in Emerald, Queensland, Maraboon Pet Resort is a purpose-built pet care and accommodation facility that provides cattery and dog kennel boarding, doggy daycare, and dog grooming services, as well as veterinary medical and surgical care in their veterinary hospital.

Maraboon Animal Health Group owner Angela first met the Therian team back in 2015, around the time the concept for the Maraboon Pet Resort was born. As a novice for this type of project, Angela and her team approached Therian for assistance in making their country pet resort dream a reality. This included:

• Finding a suitable location to accommodate a comprehensive facility with room to grow in future.
• Architectural design of the facility
• Assistance applying for and being granted relevant Council approvals
• Engaging the right builders to fulfil the brief
• Installing the right equipment to suit the needs of both canine and feline guests as well as staff.

Therian was pleased to utilise our extensive expertise and practical solutions working closely with the Maraboon team to formulate, build, and successfully deliver the entire project.

Our client’s brief for this project was to create and deliver a functional but also luxurious facility that met the collective, as well as distinct individual needs, of a diverse clientele – accommodating, caring for, and entertaining pets from large working dogs to small designer dogs and cats.

The facility needed to not only be on-brand and look great, but also operate seamlessly, be robust and durable, easy to keep clean, and be comfortable for pets. A key aspect of the project was also a facility that would minimise labour demands on its staff.

Our Therian team of architects and designers worked tirelessly with Angela and her team to understand their vision and make it work perfectly. The outcome is a highly innovative, comprehensive pet resort that:

• Appeals to human clients
• Offers a safe, secure, and comfortable haven for the dogs and cats in its care – including impenetrable fencing
• Provides indoor and outdoor runs and large outdoor off-leash play yards
• Has climate-controlled enclosures
• Streamlines flow for rotating dogs with fewer staff members
• Is easy to clean and maintain hygiene standards
• Future-proofed for easier facility growth and without any disruption to operations

Among the high-quality solutions Therian offers, Maraboon purchased Therian’s Kaivac Cleaning System to optimise hygiene. Combined with the Mason Dog Kennel and Cat Housing systems, this provides clean, easy-to-disinfect housing for pets to mitigate cross-contamination risks and maximise peace of mind throughout the facility.

Therian also assisted with the design and construction of a more recently added outdoor doggy daycare facility, fit out with dog agility playground equipment.
