The Design
Kuranda beds are designed to prevent dogs from getting a direct bite on the bed fabric.
- The fabric is inaccessible to chewing by hiding the fabric edges within a channel inside the frame pipes.
- The diameter of the frame pipes is sized to prevent a dog from getting its mouth around the frame pipes and into the fabric.
- All bed parts are joined tightly, and the frame and fabric corners are sealed by protective caps, preventing dogs from chewing at visible edges.
- Both fabric options are non-breathable, making them free of claw and teeth-catching holes.
The Materials
- The All-Aluminium and Cambridge beds are made from aircraft-grade aluminium, which has a superior strength-to-weight ratio – invaluable in its wear resistance.
- The Standard Bed frame and legs are made from two types of non-toxic poly resin PVC fused together. The inner layer provides a firm, thick structure, while the outer layer provides a finish with superior abrasion and chip resistance.
- Imagine a dog’s bite as a measure of how strong it can chew. The Kangal dog has the strongest bite recorded at 5.1 Mega Pascals (Mpa). Kuranda beds are made of materials that are even stronger than the Kangal’s bite! The aluminium beds are constructed from 2mm thick aluminium, which in sheet form has a strength of around 105 Mpa to 145 Mpa. For the Standard beds, the 3mm thick poly resin PVC frames, in sheet form has a strength of around 44Mpa to 50Mpa.
We guarantee the structural integrity of each of our beds for a period of one year from the original date of purchase of the bed.
- If a dog can damage any part of the frame or fabric beyond usability by chewing, we will send you replacement parts free of charge.
- Cosmetic damage and any damage caused by persistent scratching/digging is not covered under the 1 year Chew Proof Warranty.
- Warranty claims are limited to one free replacement per part per bed.
- A photo will be required to submit a warranty claim. All photos and claims need to be sent to info@therian.com.au – there is no need to send the damaged product back to us; the photo(s) will be sufficient.

Yes! For a basic clean, you can wipe the bed down with a damp cloth, or for a deeper clean, use mild warm soapy water and hose down with your average garden hose or pressure hose. To dry, you can wipe them down or leave them upright to dry. The fabrics are non-absorbent and will dry as you wipe them down.

This elevated design helps regulate your dog’s body temperature, making the beds comfortable in both warmer and cooler climates. The elevated platform allows for air circulation under the bed, preventing the retention of excess heat in hot weather, and protecting them from the cold hard floor in colder climates.
- NOTE: Placing soft bedding, blankets or bed pads on top of the vinyl may cause condensation between the vinyl and the soft bed topper. This is particularly shown in states that show dramatic temperature drops and depend on the outdoor temperature compared to indoors (mainly experienced in Victoria). If this applies to you, we highly recommend you fit the Ballistic Nylon fabric on your Kuranda bed.
